Dear Friend,
In the outer landscape here in southeastern Pennsylvania, it has been gray, rainy, gray.
But one morning, this sky came:
In February–for those of who live in winter climates that get cold and dreary–we might be feeling weary right about now and wishing there was more of this: more skylight, more sun.
With that energy in mind, I thought we might spend the month strengthening our intuition. Using the cold, dreary days of winter to go inside our wisdom even deeper, get to know information from body and soul and dreams. We’ll explore intuition through creative prompts designed in four parts through the month:
Week One–Drafting Intentions for the Month;
Week Two–Exploring Signs, Symbols & Metaphors;
Week Three–Reading & Writing Poetry inspired by the theme;
Week Four–Igniting Imagination with Guided Meditation.
I’ve shared with you about what cardinals evoke for me: the deep and abiding love of my grandfather whom I lost when I was six years old. This friend came to visit in my backyard yesterday. Hard to see the brilliant red in the empty tree branches and the gray sky, but the cardinal is there.
Intuition may feel that way to us at times–hidden by our busy busy brains, doubt and worries. Buried beneath a culture that never encouraged us to look for it.
I am encouraging you now. Intuition opens up worlds insides of worlds inside of our inner landscapes. Our souls.
Let’s call on intuition and write our wishes for the month ahead! If you know someone who might like to join us, invite them to come along.
Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday.
Prompt: Time to write our February intentions & prayers. Get quiet, take some deep breaths. See if you can soften your ‘thinking’ mind.
Begin with expressions of gratitude–notice and write about all that’s supporting you as you enter this new month.
Write out hopes for yourself, for your loved ones, for the earth, for people across the world.
Notice if something emerges from inside you that you hadn’t been thinking about before writing. What does your heart hope for in February?
Some phrases to get you started:
I feel thankful for…
I am yearning for…
My deepest desire is…
I sense that…
I hope for…
I wish for the world…
Place your February prayer/intentions somewhere you’ll see it as you start your day. You could adorn it with drawings, doodles, photos of the landscape around you.
I’d love to read your expressions. Leave a comment here or email me your response at gabriellekm@gmail.com.
Deepening Practice: If you typed your monthly intentions, see what happens if you take them and write them out by hand. Take markers, pens, watercolors or pastels and add some color to them. Highlight words that feel most important to you. Add to them through the month.
We’re starting this online writing circle tonight and I have two spots left!
If you feel called to join us, we’d love to have you.
