Dear Friends,
Has your week been rainy, misty, cloudy, sunny, radiant or a combination of all of the above? In the landscape around you and inside of you, I mean.
This moment is yours: to breathe, pause, remember, feel.
For folks new here to Journey With The Seasons, I share a guided meditation on the last Sunday of the month. Click the arrow at the top of the page to listen and then turn to the writing prompt. If a guided meditation isn’t your thing, go right to the prompt.
In our Summer Solstice writing circle, I shared a choice of three prompts about inner light and our shadows. Everyone chose the Leonard Cohen lyric posted above to write from: There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.
When something resonates with a group, there’s energy in it and so today’s guided meditation is about the radiance of our cracks, imagining how we find the light in all that’s broken and beautiful.
I’m grateful to one of our participants, Meg, who imagines our light shining out from the painful cracks inside. She wrote:
There's a crack in all of us that's how the light gets out At first the crack feels painful…. unwanted… reeks of shame and rage jagged edges my heart explores the dark doorway to nowhere I give up …. and sit I'm near a lake light reflections dancing on the water brighten the darkness I am drawn to the water's edge gazing in the waters.. the stars surround me and in my heart a glowing star emerges (Meg) Take a listen to the meditation above and return to the writing prompt. Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday. What images, feelings and sensations emerged from the guided meditation? What did the light coming into you look and feel like? Where are your cracks? How would you describe your inner light/radiance/strength? If you didn't listen to the meditation, here's a prompt in response to Leonard Cohen's lyrics: Where are your cracks right now? What’s breaking open? I would love to receive your experiences—please send them my way! Please share responses as a comment or email them to me at gabriellekm@gmail.com
Deepening Practice: Listen to the meditation and/or try the writing prompt again at another time this week. A different mindset or moment can activate our imagination. Give it a try a second time! PS: I love the teacher Caroline Myss. She shared a free lecture recently about archetypes that I found very powerful and helpful in terms of understanding inner power:

I loved Meg'a poem. So much feeling within it.
I was blown away--it came right out of a prompt...flipping the light getting in to going out
