Dear Friend,
I fell in love
(with the poem)
that I am going to share with you today.
Maybe you’ve read it?
A friend shared it with me recently.
It fits right into our June theme of animation, noticing what gives us life, energy, sustains our spirits.
It’s called ‘Limitless.’ It’s all about perspective and energy and the mysteries of being a human in a vast, vast universe. And recognizing the wisdom whispering to us when we’re able to pause and get our busy minds quiet for a bit.
Click the arrow above and I’ll read it to you (and I’ll read you the prompt, too–something new!).
Or read it to yourself. A couple of times. Let it soak into you.
See what it stirs up…what part of your wisdom and perspective and life force that it animates.
Put your pen to your journal or your fingers to the keyboard–see what wants to come to life. What’s been stirring inside you. What you can release today.
Creativity is a kind of animation, I think. Something healing, available to each of us…when we give it permission to come out and play.
Limitless by Danna Faulds Sun says, “Be your own illumination.” Wren says, “Sing your heart out, all day long.” Stream says, “Do not stop for any obstacle.” Oak says, “When the wind blows, bend easily, and trust your roots to hold.” Stars say, “What you see is one small slice of a single modest galaxy. Remember that vastness cannot be grasped by mind.” Ant says, “Small does not mean powerless.” Silence says nothing. In the quiet, everything comes clear. I say, “Limitless.” I say, “Yes.”
Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Seasons’ document where you can return each Sunday. Prompt: We're going to use 'Limitless' to inspire our own imaginings about wisdom and perspective from all that is animated within us and around us. In her poem, Danna Faulds shares wisdom from Sun, Wren, Stream, Oak, Stars, Silence and her own voice. Pick a few of those elements–or list your own to start from. Think of your favorite tree or bird, animal or body of water, planet, element, star. What would the ocean say? A panther say? An apple tree? What insights might they share with you? To get you started, try writing...The sun says to me... The streams says to me...
Remember, Danna Faulds' poem is a finished draft that she must have worked on many times–your messages will not be polished and don't need to be poetic! Just listen and write and write and listen and see what comes. I’d love to read your expressions. Comment below or use the ‘message’ feature to reach me.
Deepening Practice: Whether you live in the city or on a farm, in a large suburb or small town...look and listen for signs of life force around you. It could be a blade of grass poking through the sidewalk, the pattern of the clouds or simply noticing a breeze on your face. Continue the writing prompt by adding the different elements you encounter through the week...
May your creative energy fill you with life force & wisdom! With love, Gabrielle Ariella
