Dear Friends,
This week I had the chance to visit my friend who is like a sister who has known me longer than any other friend (since age 7) and who lives on a different coast from me.
When I’m with her, our connections is deep and instantaneous. We’ve shared so many heartbreaks, dreams, hopes and griefs. Our stories are sewn together through long distance phone calls, flights across the country and texts that take us back into a conversation that we’ve never stopped.
The gratitude I’m feeling for her and the opportunity for growth that our relationship allows inspires today’s meditation and prompt; our final one focused on July’s theme of growth.
For folks new to Journey with the Seasons, the final Sunday of the month features a guided meditation. For many of us, listening to a meditation provides a different access to our imagination and the words, stories, feelings and energy that are waiting for us there to write them. Click on the arrow above to listen.
If it’s not your thing, go right to prompt below and write away!
Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday.
Prompt: After listening to the guided meditation, capture what you experienced and how it felt to read your journal. What made up your story?
Write your pages of thanks for the love that’s surrounded and nurtured you and for the unexpected challenges that have led you to discover your strength and spirit.
*If you haven’t listened to the meditation, make a list of elements in your life story that have nurtured you like a plant is nurtured by water and sunlight. Pick one of those elements and write about your gratitude for it.
Deepening Practice: If a person has come to mind in the meditation or writing prompt who has nurtured your growth, write a letter to them expressing your gratitude for how they’ve nurtured your. Share it with them.
It means so much to me that you’re part of this community! I’m grateful to you. Please invite friends to join us for August!
