Call Out for Compassion
Let's start November with intentions & prayers for our lives--and for the world
Hello, friend–
How is your heart? How is your soul? How is your spirit? What muscles are you holding tight right now? Have you had a moment to breathe?
Breathe with me now.
We feel grief and anguish pulsing through the world.
How are you finding hope? Comfort? Connection?
I walked by one of my favorite tree friends the other day and the afternoon light shining through it took my breath away. I stood in the light for a moment and imagined all kinds of healing–for myself, for all of us, for my loved ones, for all of the people throughout the world who are scared and suffering.
Stuck in the news headlines, endless analysis and angry and outraged social media posts, I had forgotten that I had a choice. I could stand like the tree for a moment and breathe and imagine healing. I felt my sense come alive and felt grounded and present in my body. I felt connected to the life force surging through me. I remembered that I love life–even on the hard days. Even when I struggle.
Our November theme is compassion. I can’t think of another call that we need more right now—finding compassion for ourselves and for each other. We’ll write into this theme through the month. Send me what you create, share with our community.
Let’s see what we can bring to life with our energy and creativity. By how we access the power to create.

Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday.
Prompt: Write your wishes for the month of November, expressing all hopes, gratitude & desires. Write about the parts of your life that are in need of compassion—where you are struggling, angry or sad. Write out your wishes for a more compassionate world–around you and/or globally.
Don’t edit yourself, allow yourself to dream big in your November prayer.

More compassion would look like…
May it be that…
May the world feel…
Place your November prayer/intentions somewhere you’ll see it as you start your day.

Deepening Practice: Jot down a list in a journal through the week of moments when you feel love, sense hope or feel compassion—for yourself or others. Keep a running list, don’t edit, add big and small moments and notice periodically what kinds of things fill your list.
