Dear Friend,
May Day felt inspiring–people taking action across the country to speak out against fascism and to insist on democracy!
May 1st is a day charged with energy. In Celtic cultures, it was known as Beltane–marking the midway point between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. The tradition of dancing around a flowered May pole originates from the symbolism of uniting Divine and human energy, male and female archetypes. And we also know May 1st as the day when brave laborers risked their lives to fight for an eight-hour work day, insisting that our human lives are meant for more than toiling for the rich.
When there’s great energy at a certain time, we can tap into it and find where that energy lives inside of us.
I love D.H. Lawrence’s way of describing the irises…their showering abundance.
Irises, lilacs, azaleas…the landscape around me is magical right now: a reminder of life always renewing.
There’s strength in recognizing what’s waking up in your inner world. Have you noticed what’s inspiring you most right now? Or what’s bringing you comfort?
What kind of inner powers are coming to life? (Pssst…an inner power can be just getting through the day on a really hard day).
Let’s bless the month of May and welcome all possibilities: new strength, new inspiration, new love.
Writing a blessing for May
Have a friend who is creative, contemplative or curious? Invite them to join us in May!

Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday.
Prompt: Click the arrow above & I’ll read the prompt to you.
To begin writing your blessing/intention/prayer for the month of May, start by listing things you’re grateful for. Get specific–list big things like your loved ones, health, home, etc. and any and every small things that bring your joy or comfort.
Offer gratitude for what’s waking up in the May landscape around you–birds who’ve returned, flowers and trees, the patterns of sunrise and sunset, etc.
Write about new energy and insights waking up inside of you. Write about what’s inspiring you. Write about your hopes, yearnings & dreams for the month ahead.
Some phrases to get you started writing:
As the month begins, I’m grateful for…
I feel joy/strength/comfort when…
More and more, I notice that…
My wishes for the world are…
May this month bring…
Place your May desires/intentions where you’ll see them as you start your day. Add and update as the month goes on.
I’d love to read your expressions!
Spiritual Practice for the week ahead: I’ve written before about the connection between dreams, spirit & creativity. It was a pleasure to talk with my friend Tzivia Gover earlier this week about her amazing new dream journal-accessible wisdom whether you’re new or practiced in dream work.. Check it out!
Since I’m sending you this message on May 4th…I am obligated to write…May the fourth be with you! Love, Gabrielle Ariella
