Blessing the Month of Beginnings
Write about what's coming to life–invite in your hopes, desires, possibility
Dear Friend,
Welcome to the very first day of September! September reminds me of back-to-school shopping, the rituals of sharpening pencils and meeting teachers and sometimes making a new friend.
As adults–unless we work in an academic environment–September may not resonate as a month for those kinds of beginnings.
But every day of our lives can be a beginning–that’s the theme we’ll explore in September. Every day brings new energy. We can choose new approaches. Make new choices. Seek new adventures and awareness.
With the practice of expressive writing, the blank page offers us a new beginning every time we channel words.
Each act of creativity is a kind of beginning.
Try writing your blessing/intention/prayer for September with a sense of beginner’s mind. Get comfortable, settle in and be open to see what words of discovery or surprise may arise.

Writing a blessing for September
If you have a friend who might like to explore the month of Beginnings with us, invite them to join us!
Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday.
Prompt: For your blessing/intention/prayer for the month of September, start writing your gratitude…get specific about the beauty, blessings, joy, relationships feeding your soul.
Then write about new things you hope to bring to life this month. It could be a new approach. The start of a different routine. A desire to let something go.
Finally, write about ‘old things’ that you might approach this month with a beginner’s mind, with openness, with possibility. This could relate to a pattern, a relationship…anything you want to shift or try in a new way.
Some phrases to get you started writing:
As the month begins, I’m grateful for…
I invite new…
I open to receiving…
I hope to begin…
May this month bring..
It is time to release…
I might shift the way that I…
Place your September desires/intentions somewhere that you’ll see it as you start your day.
I’d love to read your expressions! Leave a comment here or try the messaging app.
Deepening Practice: If you typed your monthly intentions, try writing them out again by hand. Take markers, pens, watercolors or pastels and add some color to them. Gather items from the landscape around you to glue on–leaves fallen to the ground, late summer wildflowers. Keep your September blessing open to new ideas, add them through the month.
May this new month offer many beginnings. May we enter the month openness and a sense of possibility. With love, Gabrielle Ariella
