Dear Friend,
Here is my Odin last week, pausing on our walk. We stood for a moment taking in the colors of the sunrise, which painted the sky after days of grey darkness.
Odin came from Qatar (through an international dog rescue) and is never quite sure what to make of the snow, but is willing to trudge through the powdery white stuff once he’s stepped in it a bit.
What possibilities open when we clear our expectations of how things should be?
Remember these lines from last week’s poem:
Instead, create
a clearing
in the dense forest
of your life
and wait there
patiently…
Through January our theme has been clearing–and today we’ll imagine what clearing means to us one more time, with a guided meditation and connected prompt. (Find the meditation at the arrow above).
Take some deep breaths. Imagine that clearing space. What write what you see, sense, feel.
Writing Practice: Set aside 5-7 minutes for this practice. Write in a journal or open a ‘Journey with The Season’ document where you can return each Sunday.
Prompt: You’ll find the guided meditation for clearing at the arrow above. Take a listen. What images came up during this meditation? What did you see and feel in your clearing place? What did you release? How did it feel inside of you to be a place where you could clear way old things?
If you struggled with the meditation, write about a clearing space that you can imagine. A place that you go to release old voices and expectations that no longer serve you.
I would love to read about your experiences. Feel free to comment below or email me at gabriellekm@gmail.com
Deepening Practice: In moments when you feel overwhelmed by tasks, busyness or emotional demands, take a few moments to imagine a clearing space that you can visit. In your active imagination, give yourself a few moments to be there and to practice this kind fo releasing. Alternately, you may have a real space where you can go and walk or sit and clear away. Journal about how you feel after clearing, in your imaginal world or in the landscape around you.
Thank you for journeying with me in January! Welcome to all of our new community members. Next week, we’ll explore a new theme in our landscape–stay tuned!
One week away to a fun, deep, intimate writing circle–I hope you’ll join us!
In this four-session writing circle, we’ll read poetry about inner journeys, discoveries and transformations. We’ll write about the beauty of the cracks in our lives, inspired by Leonard Cohen’s ‘Anthem’, There is a crack in everything…that’s how the light gets through.
In the heart of winter, you’ll have the chance to express your dreams, hopes and what’s stirring inside you.
